Ukrainian alphabet is based on Cyrillic. The pronounciations are not difficult for European/American people because our languages are quite similar. "А" - is pronounced as "u" in "cup". "Б" - English "B" "В" = "V" "Г" is similar to "h" (but indeed is a sound between H and G) "Д"= "D" "Е" = "E" in "election" "Є" = "Ye" "Ж"= similar to "G" in "George" "З"= "Z" "И"= "[ɪ]" according to International Phonetic alphabet "І" -is similar to "ee" "Ї" ="yi" "Й"= "y" "К" = "k" 'Л'= "L" 'М'= "M" 'Н' = "N" 'О' = "O" 'П'= "P" 'Р'= "R" 'С'= "S" 'Т'= T 'У'= "oo" in "boom" 'Ф' = "ph" in "pharmacy" 'Х' = "KH". is pronounced as 'Ц'= the sound is similar to fast pronouncing of "ts" 'Ч'= "ch" 'Ш' = "Sh" 'Щ' = "shch" 'Ь' = soft sign. Makes the previous sound smoother and softer. 'Ю' = "Yu" 'Я' = "ya"
